"Everything in space obeys the laws of physics. If you know these laws and obey them, space will treat you kindly. And don't tell me that man doesn't belong out there. Man belongs wherever he wants to go, and he'll do plenty well when he gets there."

Quasi-static load cycles and vibrational testing

Structural testing for spacecrafts and satellites normally require quasi-static load cylces or vibrational assessement, which can replicate typical stress conditions that all vehicles and their sub-systems undergo during a space mission.

During the launch phase, for instance, from rocket motors ignition to the beginning of space flight, the whole missile and its payload are subjected to intensive vibrational stress.

While ascending or descending through the atmosphere, the entire vehicle must tollerate strong variation in pressure, temperature and air drag.
Locking/unlocking devices between rocket stages or between docking modules, as well as rotating nozzles for «Thrust Vectoring Control»: any of such components  are not allowed to fail, they must work properly at the right moment to prevent the entire mission get compromised.

Such demanding tasks need laboratory testing as an essential step for reliability assessment in all developing programs.
